Some of the locations we worked on in old Delhi were chaotic shoots but make up very interesting moments in the film. Delhi is an enjoyable and beautiful city for me and I feel strongly that films should be shot on location as far as possible. This film would have worked no other way. because Apurv’s manners and gestures, I guessed, would be reasonably close to my own. I read the script over and over but essentially played myself. The preparation before the shoot was more based around being comfortable with a body language and trying to communicate with fellow actors through Anamika Haksar’s workshop. His libertine values though unacceptable to some, are built on natural needs and instincts. And in this whirlpool of people and emotions, I was offered to play Apurv, who if slightly self-centered and yet is fascinated by the world he finds around himself. For me, Dil Dosti Etc is about a set of people at one of the most delicate phases of life trying to make sense of their environment and relationships.
I was instantly attracted to it because it is a film set in Delhi, a city I love. Yellow spot Kingfish – drop shot above the reef.īlack Marlin – caught on bonito livebait, trawled 20 metres behind the boat, just below the surface.Manish Tiwary (and Pawan Sony) had written a crisp and an intelligent script. Garfish and suckerfish – caught on a silver spinner on the surface – a beautifully sleek bluish-green fish All of these were returned tagged and measured, due to their declining numbers. Kingfish/GT – caught on dropshot and plugs over the reef, gave a fantastic fish. The flocks of terns would indicate the feeding fish below, picking off silvery sprats being chased by the bonito. Striped Bonito took small silvery lures, immitating sprats, cast into the bait ball on light tackle. Blue grey above and silvery sides made delicious meaty and flavoursome steaks. The smooth aggressive King Mackerel took surface lures and drop shots. The colours disappear quickly when landed. Waves of iridescent blue-green colours course over the head, body and fins. Caught on surface lure, leaping out of the water. Dorado/dolphinfish known as the chicken of the sea.
