Most of you might have noticed that the Buyer's Guide doesn't list a single compatible AMD Radeon card at the moment. The "boot to black screen" issue as well as the broken sleep/wake have been fixed! Read below for details. Also noticed the GPU tilts towards the PCIe because it sits a little high on the CPU unit and PCIe space divider (thumb screws fit well and had no issues going in though).Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's Guide Note that the Gigabyte RX 5700 XT placed in slot 1 also takes up a little space on slot 2 because the triple fan design makes it very chunky.

Gigabyte's version of the RX 5700 XT is a little on the large side as well, so I had to rearrange the M.2 SSD PCIe adapter and USB 3.0 PCIe expansion from slots 2 & 3 to slots 3 & 4. Boot screens working with ATI 5870 on Catalina as well, but like expected no boot screen when using the RX 5700 XT. Successfully downloaded and upgraded to Catalina via dosdude1 patcher. New and still in box Gigabyte Radeon RX5700 XT (for Catalina hopefully) Thanks in advance and any help, comments, & tips are much appreciated! That being one of the reasons I got the RX5700 XT (also because everyone in this community recommended it over the Vega 64). I also know Apple recently confirmed the RX 5700 (and XT) for eGPU use with Catalina 10.15.1 or later here. I'm sorry if this was asked before but I just see no record of anything online beside everyone asking about Navis and drivers for Mojave. Video is linked hereĭoes anyone have any experience upgrading to Catalina this way, using the stock 5870 or 5770 GPUs? Or does anyone know if the 5870 works in Catalina via dosdude1 Finally scrounged up enough pennies to get a new RX5700 XT and am planning on upgrading to Catalina.įound a video online with someone with a 2010 cMP and a similar stock GPU (5770 I believe) upgrading to Catalina and booted Catalina using the same stock GPU, which is supposedly not metal-supported.

Had an issue with downloading Mojave beforehand because I only had a Radeon 5870, which is not metal-supported, so I had to go down to High Sierra and had the cMP working again.
